My Books
Jingo Fever
Because of her German-American heritage, twelve-year-old Adelle struggles with bullying during World War I. Stuck in small town Ashland helping her mother care for her ailing uncle, Adelle longs to return to their home in Milwaukee, where things are at least familiar--even though the atmosphere is not much better. She worries about her brother fighting for the Allies, feels like a coward when her peers make fun of Germans, but ultimately finds her own courage when events turn dangerous. The important issue of tolerance during war time is the backdrop for this coming of age story. This book can be ordered from the author.

Time of the Eagle
When smallpox strikes her family, thirteen-year-old Autumn Dawn flees into the forest with her little bother, Coyote Boy. Together, the two native youngsters must draw on their survival skills, and learn to tell friend from foe, as they travel in search of a safe haven.
Set in the late 1700’s, when deadly diseases like smallpox were sweeping through native communities, this is the story of one girl’s heroism and strong spirit.
Time of the Eagle is not only an exciting adventure story, but can be used by educators when studying the history of the Lake Superior region and the fur trade. Through interviews with Ojibwe people as well as extensive primary source research, I studied the history of Native Americans in Wisconsin for over ten years. I’m very proud that the Council for Indian Education gave Time of the Eagle their seal of approval. This book can be ordered from the author.
